• Easter - Children will look at the Resurrection from the four Gospels. They will learn about the different reactions of people to the news that Christ was alive. Children will study the story of the Ascension.
• Pentecost - Children will revisit the story of Pentecost and they will identify the effect it had upon the disciples. They will learn about the missionary activity of the Apostles and some prayers of the Holy Spirit.
• Sharing in the life of Christ - Children will learn about the Universal Church established on the original teaching of the Apostles. They will reflect upon the Eucharist as a Sacrament which celebrates the Church’s unity. They will also look at other religious customs from around the world.
• Special Roles and Responsibilities - Children will learn about the different tasks and responsibilities given to people in the Church. This will help them to develop their understanding of the Church as the Body of Christ made up of many different people.

• Electricity - Children construct simple circuits and draw them. They find which materials are the best electrical conductors and use this information to make switches. Children wire plugs and find what happens to a bulb’s brightness when circuits are changed.

• Creation and the story of Abraham to Joseph - Children will explore the images of God portrayed in bible stories and consider what it means for humans to be made in the image and likeness of God.
• Jesus teaches us how to pray - Children will learn about the prayer life of Jesus as he grew up. Children will look at the importance Jesus attached to prayer and will study some of the traditional prayers of the Church.

• Place Value: Children will order four-digit numbers. They also work out thousands more or less than any four-digit number, focusing on which digit changes and which digits stay the same.
• Addition and Subtraction: Children practise mental addition and subtraction methods using known number facts. They work through one-step and two-step addition and subtraction word problems. Children estimate the answer to a calculation and add or subtract pairs of three-digit numbers using the formal written method of column addition and subtraction.
• Multiplication, including the 6 and 9 times tables: Children use the “key facts” to work out multiplication and division facts for the 9 and 6 multiplication tables. They are taught the strategy of using the 10 multiplication table and adjusting, to work out the 9 multiplication table. Children also develop their understanding that multiplication can be done in any order.
• Perimeter of shapes: Children are introduced to perimeter for the first time. They explore what perimeter is and find the perimeter of simple 2d shapes. They compare the area of perimeter with different 2d shapes.

• Eating and digestion - Children will find out about food groups and healthy balanced diets. They will study the human digestive system and how food is transported around the body. Compare diets of herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. Investigate teeth and what causes decay. Look closely at food chains/webs.
• Environment and habitats - Look at characteristics of habitats and different living organisms, classify different organisms into their groups, use a classification key to group organisms, identify and classify a variety of British plants and explore impact of humans on living environments and organisms.
